Dengue fever outbreak shows signs of slowing down in Tainan

Taipei, Oct. 10 (CNA) The rate
of dengue fever infection has been slowing down steadily in the southern Taiwan
city of Tainan, the worst-hit area this year, the Centers for Disease Control
said Saturday.
As of Friday, the number of
dengue fever cases[1]
in Taiwan since the start of summer in May had reached 22,520, an overnight
increase of 340, according to CDC[2]
data.
Tainan alone reported an
increase of 199 cases from the previous day, amid[3]
steady decline[4]
over the past week, the CDC said.
In neighboring Kaohsiung City,
however, infections have been increasing in a slightly faster speed.
On Friday, Kaohsiung saw an
increase of 134 new cases, 22 more than a week ago, the agency said.
As of Friday, the two cities
had reported 18,864 and 3,279 cases, respectively[5].
Together they accounted for[6]
more than 98 percent of the national[7]
total.

Though the outbreak was serious in Tainan, neither I nor the people around me were infected. Thus, I can't experience the terror it was. But now I'm glad that the dengue fever has been slow down before we are infected.
回覆刪除Still remembering not long ago, I could hear dengue on the news every day. At that time, the national people were so afraid of being infected dengue. Fortunately, it is winter now. Mosquitoes are not active so that the number of dengue fever cases decrease. I really hope that there won’t be any other person dying of dengue.
回覆刪除Usually the public should be vigilant , if not the outbreak of dengue fever have to take preventive measures , we must avoid at home where there is water , because there is water local content
